about

I set myself the task of recording a piece of music every day that would somehow capture the current feeling of stasis and anxiety, of the world having come to a standstill.
Starting on March 22nd, I recorded until April 1st.
(Some days, I recorded more than one piece.)
Thanks to Jo Bramwell for suggesting the album title, and to Liam Tungate for suggesting the cover.

Recorded in Hebden Bridge, March/April 2020
All instruments played by Colin Robinson.
The snippets of Richard Knutson’s conversations were recorded in Hebden Bridge in July 2019.

"Colin's unique ability to take you places with sound has become a lifeline in these uncertain times. This particular collection of peculiar tunes is pure genius in my humble opinion (or jumble open onion as I like to say). Bravo! ... My favs are "What is reality like when we're not looking at it?" and "An itch I cannot scratch", which incidentally does sound like an itch feels." - Jon du Bose

"This album turned out not to be only about the current state of things. His sense of humour got the better of him in the end and his deep knowledge of English art and culture seeps through as well. Did John Ruskin ever play a granite marimba? In his universe it is perfectly plausible. Bassoons and Women's Coats works on two different levels: as an adventurous collection of softly played avant-garde and as an invitation to fire up a search engine to find out more about the stories behind the titles of his instrumentals." - Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood weblog

"The melancholic side of the music works so well..."eye" opening, playful even...never self indulgent" - Steven Delisi

"Colin's work is always interesting, experimental and layers upon layers of sonic goodness. His mixing is always some of the best you'll hear." - Michael Inman

"I absolutely love this album, very quirky." - Nick Lane

"This is an excellent collection, really transporting." - Robert Monk

"an album that is both experimental and ambiently soothing, in equal measures. You cannot have enough good music in times like these." - Neil Folkard

"Unconventional and moody. Good stuff" - Russ Lund
