about

The Sunken Chapel (and other dreams)
Part 3 of 3

Dreams – the minor transient documents of everyday life. Ambiguous creations that are not meant to be retained or preserved. But if you write them down…

This trilogy of albums is based on fragments of dreams that I have written down.

Recorded between July 2022 and February 2023 by Colin Robinson in Hebden Bridge, except:
Voices by Jim Ramsden (in Bilbao and Hebden Bridge) and Nigel Lawson (in Hebden Bridge).
Field recordings at the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao.

Photo taken at Thruscross Reservoir, North Yorkshire, 2022

"Definitely more filmic this one, distinctly glacial" - John Hatch

"The third in the trilogy from JHC. Much more expansive and contemplative than the previous volumes. Less angular and disruptive and while more calm still has a finely honed edge. The smooth distorted guitar cuts through the sonic washes sometimes like a muted trumpet and the juxtaposition is delightful. I may have to listen to all three in one sitting for the full journey." - Phil South

"Mesmerizing Colin!" - Sandi Thomas

"Fans of Eno and Robert Fripp will have no trouble accommodating to this set of instrumentals and a bit of spoken word. No sign of the harshness that was put to good use on You're Our Prisoner Now (and other dreams) or the all out weirdness of Don't Say Nowt (and other dreams). This third instalment is a soothing conclusion of an ambitious project. He is all over the place, just like dreams are by design, but by careful selection he made a triptych that is amongst his finest work as a sculptor of sounds and moods." - Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood weblog

"definitely the most chilled piece I have heard of yours but still with enough idiosyncrasies to keep my interest" - Tim Saunders
