about

These pieces were composed and recorded in Hebden Bridge between November 2020 and September 2021.

All performances by Colin Robinson, except for “Observing Bear Pit on Cardigan Road”, which features Nigel Lawson and Jim Ramsden on voices and things.

Thanks to Holly Marland for inadvertently suggesting the title of “I broke my toes doing the Hokey-Cokey”.

Cover art by Colin Robinson, from a photo taken in County Durham.

"It's going to be a good day when you are listening to an album with songs about weirdness, sheds and football." - Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood weblog.

"It’s that creepy, freaky fairground ride that you can’t resist going to have a look at… and then another look at." - Simon Partridge

"I love it !" - Pendle from Sound Dust

"Cardigan Road is a lot of fun, decidedly weird, and chances of hearing it in a tearoom are zero. Robinson caters to a niche, who are capable to follow his whimsical wanderings, while others are likely to get lost in his musical maze." - Hans Werksman, Here Come The Flood weblog

"I enjoyed the playfulness and variety" - Jim Ramsden

"He goes funky in an unforgiving way, grumbling about sheds, football
and of course people who believe that there are little creatures living in the woods." - Hans Wersman again

"Robinson shows more of his underlying musicianship in Glimpse but his lounge lizard lyrics soon recall Fear & Loathing rather than Dean Martin. As ever, there’s variety with new nooks emerging on second and further listenings. Milton Keynes is nothing like a silent monkey." - Jim Ramsden

"I heard a little King Crimson ConstruKction of Light reference - probably unintended, but I always love to find some (although in your music that is a hell of a problem, since it is so different from the rest of the music on the planet !) - Mato from Atom Hub

"Recommended - you won't hear anything like this anywhere else!" - Richard Woodcock

"This is a masterpiece; why are you not famous?" - Sandi Thomas

"Cardigan Road is fantastic! I love it!" - Jon du Bose, Chiampa Radio
