about

‘The Erik Satie Toga Party’, a Compendium of The Macabre.
A series of sordid short stories by Jumble Hole Clough

These pieces were recorded in Hebden Bridge between July and September 2022.

All instruments and vocals by Colin Robinson.
However, some tape loops crop up featuring:
i) Jim Ramsden and I howling and shouting in an art installation in the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao. It had to be done.
ii) Nigel Lawson, Jim Ramsden and I having a discussion in Hebden Bridge.

Thanks to Gareth Jones for suggesting the title “Fizzy Spiders broke my shehnai”, after he demonstrated his excellent command of the Spanish language by ordering me a pint of Fizzy Spiders in a bar in Barcelona.
They were horrible.
Luckily, I have managed to repair my shehnai, and it features in the song.

"Nigel Gresley and Elvis Presley is up there with Moon and June!" - Richard Woodcock from The Owter Zeds

"It's joyous; I love the arrangements. It reminds me of so many things but its originality stands out massively. It's wonderfully eccentric and playful. It's one of the best things I've heard in ages." - Alex McCune

"Currently sticking up jumper. Loving." - Miss Hesta Jones

“Robinson's mostly deadpan delivery is a nice contrast to the bells and whistles he has sprinkled with reckless abandon upon his free-flowing compositions. ‘Don't Sit On My Rugose Cone’ could very well be the first song to have been written about this creature from the works of H.P. Lovecraft.” - Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood weblog

"Splendid and highly recommended" - Zulu Dalek

"Worth it for the title track alone!" - Dave Milligan, Otto Radio

"These guys are great" - Gerry Barnett

"It's excellent, bravo !" - Anthony Donovan

"Something completely different for those of you who don’t know or haven’t come across the one and only Colin Robinson , reading the song titles on their own are well worth it , open your mind and listen in" - Tim Saunders

"Another wonderfully wonky offering" - Neil Spragg, Unorthodox Paradox Radio

"Sounds great! Exciting new music." - Jay Tausig

"Jumble Hole Clough -as Cage once said of Satie- is indispensable." - Dominic Rivron

"It's ace, particular the titular track." - Nadia Williams

"Love your music. This is great" - Kath Reade

"I really liked this - cheered me up on a grey morning!" - Ali West

"Very fine indeed" - Sir Real, Unorthodox Paradox Radio
